Think And Pray
While I've got this thing out, I'll say one more thing.
I've noted before how unfortunate it was that people offering "thoughts and prayers" in the face of a tragedy were met with mockery rather than gratitude. Yes, it's a trite phrase, and maybe some people used it as a substitute for meaningful action they should have been taken, but offering thoughts and prayers to victims of events is a good and decent and necessary thing to do.
Now, we are faced with an issue where, with some exceptions, "thoughts and prayers" (and staying home) are about all we can offer. And unfortunately, we've cancelled the vocabulary we have to express that.
Perhaps the day will come when there are more meaningful actions we can take than thoughts and prayers. But it's what we have now. And if we don't think and pray now, we won't have the wisdom to know the right actions to take when the time comes.
